Fabrication - Rising Main & Head Works
Rising Mains
Rising main, upon which the borehole pumps are suspended upon can be either:-
Steel - screwed and socketted 1" - 6" diameter
Mild steel or stainless steel - flanged 4" - 12" diameter
Flexible - Wellmaster flexibile rising main 1" - 8" diameter
Each of the above have advantages and disadvantages to certain applications.
We are distributors for the Wellmaster flexible rising main, with our engineers being approved installers of this equipment. Any Wellmaster installations not carried out by an approved installer will render the warranty on the Wellmaster void.
We can fabricate both mild steel and stainless steel flanged rising mains upto 12" diameter at our facility in Leigh. An outside facility is used to carry out Scotchcoating of rising mains which is approved by all UK water companies.
For screwed and socketted pipe work, we can accommodate cutting and screwing of pipe work from 1" upto 6" diameter.
Head Works
Head plates can be fabricated in steel from 6" diameter upto 48" diameter, with all necessary openings for rising main, dip tubes, cable glands etc. Any head plates Scotchcoated are carried out using an outside facility.
Head works from the head plate on the borehole can be accommodated, from adapting old pipe work to completely replacing pipe work including gate valves, none return valves, water meters and sample taps.
Minor civil engineering projects can be undertaken including laying of water mains from the head works into relevant supply pipe work, using our own excavators and equipment.
Well head chambers can be constructed in either pre-cast concrete or brick construction with 30tonne carrying capacity covers and frames, or concrete plinths around head works finished above ground level. Building of pump houses can also be undertaken. Steel cabinets can be fabricated to house small controls and equipment adjacent to the borehole head works. All these works are carried out by our staff.
The pictures on this page includes replacement of new head works, the first photo is of the 'before' head works, and the second photo is 'after' the replacement head works.
The further picture (right) shows completion of new head works with minor alterations being carried out to the pipe work head works.
