Test Pumping

Constant rate test pumping and step testing programmes are carried out on newly constructed boreholes and existing sources.

Tests can be carried out by ourselves upto a capacity of 500m3/hour using all our own equipment.

We carry an extensive range of test pumps ranging from 1m3/hour to 500m3/hour all of which are held in stock with rising main, drop cable, and starter/control panels.

All test pumps are operated using our own generators, including provision for a standby unit on any test, with automatic connection to bunded fuel tanks.

We can also accommodate tests using weir tanks of varying configurations and capacities with either 'V' notch or rectangular notch. All weir tanks carry the provision to house the data logging equipment which will digitally record the flow rate through the weir tank for the duration of the test.

Discharge pipe work ranging from 3" upto 8" diameter in lengths of upto 500m in distance can be provided, together with all the necessary pipe work and head works, which will accommodate two flow meters, sample tap and gate valve, and any surface pumps required.

A provision is also available to accommodate the fitting of an ultra sonic flow meter which will also check the flow rate and the yield of the borehole.

The head works would be sufficient to accommodate the installation of relevant dip tubes to include a dip tube to house a data logger to digitally collect the data on the water level in the borehole during the test, and a dip tube to manually record the water level in the borehole using a dip meter.

Constant rate test pumping can be carried out for durations in excess of 28 days which will be manned 24 hours per day 7 days per week using our labour and accommodation.

We also provide a full range of data logging equipment including data loggers which can monitor not only water level, but conductivity and temperature, with cable lengths of 150m. Including instruments to monitor the discharged water from the borehole including sand content, temperature, conductivity and PH of the water.

A full range of manual monitoring equipment is also available for multiple test pumps and monitoring.

All test pumping is carried out to BS6316 standard.

The photographs on this page include test pumps underway using weir tanks and the data logging equipment used in the collecting of data in recording of the flow rate through the weir tank.
